Test anxiety is normal for most people. But there are people who find test anxiety so disruptive that it hinders them from thinking rationally during the exam. This is the reason why these kinds of people need to have enough time to prepare for the exam. The following are some tips to reduce test anxiety:
Sleep well several days before the exam.
It is a must that you get a good sleep every night prior to the exam. Many people experience test anxiety because they make it a habit to stay up late at night just to study. It is only when you sleep that your brain will have the chance to recharge for it to perform better the next day. But, if you deprive yourself of enough sleep your brain’s capability to function well will be reduced. In addition, not having enough sleep will only make you experience fatigue which exacerbates test anxiety.
Nourish yourself with nutritious foods.
Eating enough of nutritious foods will prevent chemical imbalance and will make your brain and your entire body healthier during the exam. This also goes to say that you see to it that you maintain a healthy diet several days or weeks prior to the exam. Having a healthy meal only on the actual day of your exam is no longer a good way to make you healthy. Your body needs to have enough time for nutrients to work and make you healthy. Making your body healthy cannot be done overnight or soon after eating one healthy meal.
Stay away from fellow test takers that are equally tense.
Tension can be very contagious and can induce anxiety attacks. Therefore, it is a must that you stay away from their conversation and sharing of anxious feelings. Instead, find a place where you can clear your mind from anxious thoughts prior to the exam time. This way, when the test starts what you will recall will be the information that you have studied and not those stressful comments that you’ve heard from your fellow test takers.
Hopefully, these three tips will help you to reduce test anxiety.
