What To Remember When Shopping For An Electric Scooter

Electric mobility scooters have become extremely popular devices for those who need help getting around. They allow individuals to maintain active lives and let them remain as normal as possible once their mobility problems set in. There are different types of scooters that have different features. People interested in purchasing one should look around and find one that is going to suit all of their needs. When they do this, there are a few things they should keep in mind.

3-Wheel Scooters vs. 4-Wheel Scooters

The different amount of wheels on a mobility scooter will change the way the scooter is used. A 3-wheel scooter is generally made for inside purposes. They are good to have inside the home to get around easier. These are normally more lightweight and good for running errands, but must not be taken off road. These scooters are usually great picks because of their ability to make sharper turns than the other scooters.

The 4-wheel scooters, on-the-other-hand, are made to be more durable than the 3-wheel-scooters. They cannot make tight turns, but are good for the individual that likes to be outside often. These are suited to off road terrain.

Both of these scooters can be found at most electric scooter or medical stores. Stores, especially online stores, that specialize in these such as ElectricScooters4Less are able to help people find a scooter that is best suited for them. It is also possible to get better deals from specialty stores.

Weight Capacity of Scooters

All electric scooters have weight capacities. It is important to be aware of the individual’s weight that will use the scooter to make sure it lasts for a while. Most scooters, even the lightest versions such as travel scooters, are normally able to carry between 350 and 400 pounds. The good news is that heavy duty mobility scooters are able to carry over this amount, and some are able to carry over 500 pounds.

Batteries

The majority of electric scooters are battery-powered. The battery can run anywhere between 12 and 22 miles depending on the type of scooter. Most will have to be recharged after a daily use, and it is a good idea for anyone with a mobility to replace their battery annually.

Travel Scooters

For people that are still able to walk for the most part, but every once in a while need a little help are really benefited by travel scooters. These scooters are very light and can be folded or disassembled to store easily. They are great for days when the person will have to walk a lot, or for times when their legs are hurting them.

Creating Targeted Email Addresses

There are a number of businesses that are using current targeted email addresses to help market and continue having a successful business. There are many businesses that aren’t aware of how to create an effective list and therefore they purchase leads that are not going to give any results. You need to determine who your audience is going to be before you can begin any email marketing campaign. If you currently have an email list, there are some tips to help you utilize it for added success.

Collect Customers

If you have had past customers and still have their email, you might want to consider sending them an email advertisement. Gather all of your past and present customers to help you out. Make sure they are interested in your current products and make the list as targeted as possible. This helps you get more results and you should also make sure they are ok with getting emails from you still.

Organize Information

You want to make sure you have all of their information accurate and organized. This allows you to see what information you have available for each person. The whole purpose of an email marketing list is to send out mass emails and if you don’t have email addresses for every person, you might not have as large of a database as you once thought.

Code Your Customers

You can set a coding system in place to allow you to see what customers you have that might be active or not active. This allows you to keep everything organized and effectively emailing people who are interested. You want to make sure that your list is current.

Create an Effective Offer

When marketing to your list, you want an offer that is going to stand out. Consider introducing new products and make sure it fits your area or the geographic area of your customers. Determine the age group your products are going to benefit the most and try to keep it targeted towards that age range. If your product is geared for homeowners, try to avoid marketing towards those that are living with roommates or those that are renting.

You want to find a way to track your results. This allows you to see what works and what doesn’t. Using your current email list for advertising can help you get repeat business and can help show your customers you still are aimed at providing quality products.

The first thing that you need to be aware of when it comes to email marketing is that if you are flagged as spam, no one will see the emails that you send. If nobody reads your marketing emails, obviously they will be ineffective for building a larger customer base. In order for email marketing to be effective you will need to make sure that people are reading your emails. So in order to figure out of people are actually reading the emails you send out you should try and request some feedback. Ask the receivers of the email to fill out a survey or to answer a question – if a lot of people respond to your email you will know that your contact list is alive and that your marketing emails will be read.

Another important tip to keep in mind when it comes to email marketing is to avoid using certain keywords that could trigger your email providers spam filter. There are many different keywords that the majority of email provider companies flag as spam. If a certain email contains too many blacklisted keywords the email will automatically be sent to the spam folder and it won’t be read. So your main concern when it comes to email marketing is to avoid being flagged as a spam. A good way to avoid being flagged as spam is to gather email addresses via opt-in methods. How To Make Furniture Look Antique

Antique furniture is the new trend in interior design. It adds a touch of class and history to an otherwise boring room. Before you break out your bank to get yourself some very expensive, original antiques to add class to your house, here are some tips on how you can make your own furniture look antique with just some paint and sanding mops.

1.    Find the furniture you want to give an antique look

The first thing you obviously need to do is to pick that piece of furniture that you would want to antique. This could be a wardrobe or chest of drawers or whichever other furniture you may desire. For this project, it must be made of wood.

2.    Primer

Apply primer to the piece. Opt for one that can stick to anything. Allow it to dry, preferably overnight before proceeding.

3.    Paint

Apply the first coat. Use latex as it has easier application, clean up and drying time. Allow to dry for at least four hours, but preferably overnight.

4.    Paint (again)

Apply the top coat now. It is very essential for the paint to dry fully, so allow it to dry for 2 days or so.

5.    Sanding

Use your sanding mop to lightly create areas of wear, where there ought to be in an old piece of furniture. Gently expose the top layer of paint. Go over these same spots again to make the surface very smooth, so that it appears to be real wear. Continue doing this until you get the look you desire. A simple way to know the areas you ought to sand would be to use the furniture and note the areas where your body comes into contact with it.

6.    Finishing touches

For an extra look, you should scar the furniture with different items. Use a heavy chain for example to strike the piece, this should make irregular, round indentations. A two y two-piece of oak can be used to make additional scars by using the edges and corners to scar the surface of the piece.

Fencing pliers can be used to make little holes in the furniture, making it appear as though bugs have been eating at it. You can also use the long end to make irregular scratches. Have fun as you make these scars but do not overdo it, you want your furniture looking antique, not like something that ought to be in the trash bin!

Teach Kids Dental Hygiene With An Egg

Children have a difficult time understanding dental hygiene. You can explain to them how important having clean teeth is until you are blue in the face, but to them, brushing is a chore you have to do only because your parents tell you so. They do not care how thoroughly they need to clean–they would rather get through it as quickly as possibly, nearly turning it into a race.

That is why getting them to actually grasp the “whys” and “hows” of proper teeth cleaning is so important–and the best way is to show them, but in a way that captures their interest.

How? With eggs!

You can teach your kids good dental hygiene and a fun eggsperiment at the same time. Eggshells are similar to enamel, making it a great lesson that shows children up front what happens to their teeth if they don’t brush. Even better, the experiment is simple and easy to set up.

English: Putting toothpaste on a toothbrush. T...You will need:

- a tube of toothpaste (such as Crest Cavity Protection) at least 4 oz in size

- a glass cup large enough to hold an egg

- eggs (one to use, and some to spare if it cracks)

- vinegar

- a marker

- clear nail polish

- plastic wrap

- paper towels

- teaspoon

Step 1: Set out the eggs until they reach room temperature, then clean the eggs with water, and carefully dry them with the paper towel. Use the marker to make a mark on one side of the egg and then coat the mark with the nail polish to protect it.

Step 2: Empty the tube of toothpaste into the cup and pack it in with the spoon so that there are no bubbles and the toothpaste is level.

Step 3: Place the egg, marked side down (make sure the polish has dried), into the cup so that the bottom half is covered in toothpaste – and make sure there is toothpaste between your egg and the glass. Use plastic wrap to cover it and let it sit at room temperature for four days.

Step 4: After the 96 hours have passed, rinse the toothpaste off the egg with warm water and let dry overnight. Clean the glass cup for the next part of the experiment.

Step 5: Fill the cup with enough vinegar to cover the egg. Gently lower the egg until it is completely submerged and rest the spoon on top to keep it under. Once again, cover the cup with plastic wrap. You (and your children) should see bubbles form along the untreated side of the egg. Explain to your kids that the vinegar acts like the plaque that builds up on your teeth.

Step 6: Let the egg sit until the untreated side is soft. This can take as little as seven hours, though it might be longer. You can check it by taking it out and gently tapping it. If it is not soft yet, place it back in the vinegar and check it every hour.

Step 7: Once half of the egg is soft, show it to your kids! Be careful, it will be fragile. Explain to them that plaque, like the vinegar, damages and weakens your teeth. Then show them how much the toothpaste protected the other side of the shell, leaving it strong and healthy.

Ta-da! Now your kids can see how important dental hygiene is. If only my parents had shown me this “eggsperiment” – maybe I never would have gotten those four cavities when I was young!

4 Factors To Consider When Buying A Handicap Bathtub

If you are shopping for a handicap bathtub, you should not just buy anything that is being offered in stores or even by any unfamiliar website out there. There are numerous bathtubs for handicaps out there and each of them has features which differ from the others. Because of this, there is a possibility for you to get one that does not really suit your needs. You should really spend some time looking into the characteristics of the bathtubs which are being sold out there in the market. Here are some of the factors that you might want to consider:

Size

A walk-in bathtub (bathing, tub), with a door,...How big will the bathtub be? Of course, most bathtubs for handicaps out there are usually of the same size but you might want to consider getting a bigger one for mobility. Some bathtubs out there are so compact that it would be very difficult for the user to move easily. You would not want the user to have a hard time transferring from his wheelchair into the tub. Size is really an important factor to consider. Bigger tubs might be a little more expensive than the standard sizes but consider purchasing them because they feature mobility.

Safety

This is the most important factor to consider. Does the bathtub showcase enough safety features? You would not want the user to slip and break a bone just because there are not enough safety features. Look for a bathtub that has a lot of grab bars. It would also be nice if the bottom not that slippery so that accidents could be avoided.

User-friendliness

You must also look for a bathtub that is very easy to use. The switches do not have to be complicated so that the user will be able to control them properly. For example, the air switch should be located in an area that makes it easier for the user to adjust the water flow. Of course, those with other features such as heated jets and whirlpool system massages need to have controls which are user-friendly as well.

Cost

Of course, you should consider the cost as well. There is a huge difference between being thrifty and being economically unwise. If you think that the bathtub is too cheap, you should not purchase it. This is because it might not have the features that you are looking for in a tub. Avoid the ones which are too expensive as well. Just look for a tub that suits your budget.

Unplanned Garage Repair

Race out of the Garage

Every time I open my garage, it’s a fight between me and the garage to see who will win. A few months ago I went to open my garage door; I hit the button and walked back in the house for my purse. As I returned back to pull out my car, I noticed the garage door was shut. I opened it again, pulled out and headed to work.

This occurred a couple of more times before I realized that something wasn’t quite right with the door. I have lived in the house for 10 years, and who knows when the door was installed by the previous owner.  As the months went on the problem escalated, I constantly found myself cautiously parking in my garage. I was ready at any moment to gun-it into my garage if the door started closing while I was driving in. I felt like a ninja if I was able to successfully get my car in the garage before the door started closing on me again.

Repair for Safety

Sectional-type overhead garage doors in the st...

After a few months of this, I decided to find a place that would do a garage door repair, Layton had a few good options for me to pick from. The repair man told me that some wiring had shorted out and that it wasn’t a major repair. He also installed a motion sensor  so that the garage will not close on anyone or anything if they are in the way of the door. Now, every time I enter the garage I am not concerned that the door could fall on my car at any moment. No more acting like a ninja when I’m attempting to park my car. Phew!

Recommendations

If your garage happens to do this to you, don’t wait to get it fixed, especially if you have a new car. My car isn’t new, but I didn’t really want any scratches on it that were avoidable. I had many close calls, but I was able to avoid scratching or denting my car.

The repair man also recommended an annual maintenance check up on my garage. I wasn’t aware that you were suppose to do this. He also said that with a routine maintenance that this problem could have been avoidable. From now on I definitely will have a routine maintenance check up on my garage door.

Hair Extensions For Thin Medium Hair – Considerations

When you’re thinking about extensions, it can be difficult if you’re a person that has thin hair. Outside of cutting and coloring, it can present a few problems. Of course, there are quite a few men and women who have thin hair and enjoy extensions – and a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that it can be used to thicken up the hair a bit. If you’re a person who has thin hair and are looking to add something to it, there are some considerations that you should take heed of. We’re here to help a bit, as we think that we could be of a lot of help.

Don’t Trim

If you’re looking for extensions, there’s the chance that you’ll want to trim up your hair a bit to be able to facilitate the extensions a bit easier. While this is one of those things that you may be tempted to do, it’s something that you shouldn’t. The uneven ends in your hair make it a lot easier to blend in the extensions. Even if you have ends that are broken from highlighting or anything else, you should keep it and allow the extensions to be applied before you think about anything else to do with it. It’ll make it a lot easier to manage.

Types

As far as types of hair extensions are concerned; there are some proponents of all of the popular types of extensions. With this type of hair, you really don’t have to worry much about what you can or can’t do, as you have just about everything available to you, regardless of what people may tell you. Of course, you’re best suited with going with a hair dresser that has all of the requisite skills when dealing with a person that has thinner hair. If you do, you surely won’t have any problems with getting what you need done.

Some people find that having thin hair is undesirable and a bit hard to work with. It’s not always the case. While it can be at times, it’s definitely not the case when you’re getting extensions. In fact, many good hairdressers appreciate working with hair of all types, not just what most people consider to be the “ideal” kind of hair. So, when it comes to thin medium hair, don’t worry about applying extensions. You’ll be fine!

Bedside Manner For CNAs

In healthcare, the importance of bedside manner is often overlooked. For this reason, bedside manner has been a topic of much discussion and training in recent years. A caring, patient and understanding bedside manner can make all the difference for someone who may be scared, uncomfortable and lonely in a hospital or nursing facility.

For CNAs, bedside manner could not be more important. The primary job of a CNA is to make their patients feel as comfortable and well cared for as possible. Since CNAs usually spend more time with their patients than anyone else, it means they must master the art of bedside manner.

What exactly is bedside manner?

Bedside manner consists of:

1. Good communication – be sure you ask your patients questions about how they are doing and also let them know whats going on with their treatment or stay. The more a patient knows about their situation the more at ease they will feel. Be warm and inviting by making casual, positive conversation with your patient.

2. Showing empathy – The more you can try to imagine yourself in your patients place the easier it will become for you to care for them. Patients can easily sense a empathetic health care professional versus a cold and business like one.

3. Take your time – One of the most frequent complaints people have with healthcare professionals is that they feel rushed when talking to them. Take they time to let your patient say everything they feel they need to say.

4. Smile and use soft tones when speaking – Smiling at a patient can make a huge difference in how they perceive you and their environment. Speaking softly and calmly will help your patient feel at ease. The way you speak and smile can have a huge impact on how your patient feels.

By following these simple tips CNAs can improve their bedside manner and become great at their jobs. The compassion that you show for your patients will undoubtedly come back to you. By showing good bedside manner you will enjoy your job more and improve the lives of your patients.
